Well your not alone, at first when I picked up my JLU Rubicon I thought I did something wrong in the air conditioning settings as occasionally I would get a mixture of outside air circulation, but this was not consistent so I just ignored it.
So I thought nothing of it, and then the wife commented asking me if I switched of the aircon, and that's when I realised it wasn't me imagining it. So I decided to try and trace the issue during a long drive with the help of the wife and she noticed the same hot air blowing again around the feet area. So after a couple of Google searches, it turns out that this is apparently a JL feature to recirculate the cabin air.
Why? I have no idea and didn't really understand the point of it being a feature as I never had this on any on my Jeeps.
However, luckly there is a way to disable the feature if you want too by unpluging the recirculation connector that controls the recirc damper, which partially opens allowing the outside air to enter the cabin located just below the glove box hence why its felt in the feet area. Now by doing this it just means unplugging another connector to resolve a simple issue like the auto / start feature that alot hate. I did disconnect it to test it out and I did not get anymore hot air blowing in the cabin. I also didn't get any error codes reflecting in the dash either. So I'll just leave that connector unplugged until something official pops up LOL.
However, I'm just hoping this is something that can be disabled by Jeep at some stage or maybe a possible option through the JL Tazer [emoji16] fingers crossed.
Only in a Jeep will your truly feel the freedom in any trail..
