Power mirrors not working

Just picked up my JL wrangler this weekend. I wasn’t planning to trade in my JKU for a JL but I couldn’t resist after a test drive!

The Jeep JL came in on a Friday and I bought it the next day - which caused the dealership to have to prep it in a hurry on a Saturday afternoon.

My side power mirrors will not move using the control panel inside the Jeep. Did the dealership forget to set something up properly that is causing my mirrors not to operate, if so, what is it?

Thank you in advance!

So I’ve noticed power door locks on driver side don’t work either. I checked connection in door jam and it is all connected properly. The power windows work and the power locks on the passenger side work. Lastly, after I have shut the motor off, it doesn’t not turn off radio when I open driver side door...but it does when passenger side is opened.

I hate electrical Gremlins like this. One of my 70s Trans Ams used to do all kinds of weird electrical stuff, including blinking the dome light on and off rather than the signals when I would hit the hazard button. Never did figure that one out, and the electronics back then were fairly simple. Good luck. Hope you are able to resolve these problems soon.

So I went to the dealership this morning at 8:15. I watched their technician check all the wiring under the hood and under the dash with no luck. The technician then proceeded to take the Driver's side door panel off and still could not find the source of my problems. After 3 hours of waiting the service manager finally told me they were going to let another technician (who was currently busy) look at it because he is the electrical wiring guru. I had to leave it there over night and the service manager said it could take several days to figure this out! :-O

I really thought this would be an easy fix for the dealership, but so far it's stumping them too. The sadest part is that I am without a vehicle now because my brand new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is my daily driver, its in the shop, and the dealership wouldn't even give me a rental car.IMG_5176.JPG

Well after leaving it at dealership #1 for two days they were unable to determine the problem. I had them put it back together and I took it this morning to the dealership I purchased it from. They have it and are looking at it - at least they gave me a loaner car to drive in the meantime - 2017 4 door Sahara Wrangler.

The Jeep Wave program is supposed to guarantee you a loaner. Glad you e got something for now & good luck.

I’m having the same issue as well I go in this Saturday for the same problem and a few recalls they can keep it for however long as long as I get a rental

Curious if your dealership will be able to find the issue faster than the one I took mine too. Please share what you find out and I will do the same...maybe we have the same cause to our problem.

I still don't have mine back. Tomorrow will make a week that the dealership has had it. I called yesterday and they said I should expect to keep the loaner for the weekend. The technician said they are dealing will faulty or bad wiring and they are trying to trace mine down. They ruled out all the electrical modules that would have made this an easy fix for them.

They put in a 2017 JK 4 door Sahara that has a higher sticker price than my 2018 JL Rubicon (2 door). I just can't wait to have my 2 door back...at least its been raining so I'm not missing any good top off weather where I'm at.

I called the dealership, and they are still stumped. I sent them the information you provided to see if they could check those connections, if they hadn’t already.

The technician said they were waiting on a response from Chrysler before they continued diagnosis. They plan to pull it into the shop tomorrow to continue working on it.

All I know is they have 15 more days before this Jeep meets Georgia’s lemon law...I really don’t want to go through that process :(

Update

So just an update in the event anyone has been following this thread / issue.

The Dealership I purchased the Jeep from still has it in their service department. I'm not going to be critical of the dealership here because 1. they have been easy to deal with; and 2. they've been giving me regular updates on their work whenever I request.

I passed along the information from Spotscrib, but that was not the same issue I'm having. The dealership has checked all the wiring and has replaced the Body Control Module (BCM). These changes didn't fix anything at all. The dealership seems to be stumped even though they opened a STAR case with FCA. I'm not too optimistic about this issue being corrected anytime in the immediate future. I wish the dealership would just trade Jeeps with me or buy this one back so I could just buy a different Rubicon.

This upcoming Saturday, 7/28/2018, will make 4 weeks the dealership has had my Jeep for this particular problem and it will also be the 30th day this vehicle has been out of service due to repair. In the State of Georgia that will officially make this vehicle a candidate for lemon law. On Saturday I plan to pick my Jeep back up from the dealership and then I will pursue replacement or refunding through Georgia's Consumer Lemon Laws. I hate to do it this way - but I have to look out for my best interests, and I believe this is the only option I'm going to be left with.

Discuss with an attorney if picking up the Jeep will "void" that 30 day clause before you take it back.

I don't know a freaking thing about lemon laws thank goodness, but honestly this was my first thought as well. If the Jeep is still at the dealership and falls within a lemon law range, I wouldn't touch it. Unless you're trying to prevent them from fixing it. Either way touch base with someone that knows something.
