JL Rubicon Mileage

I know we don’t buy Jeeps for mileage, I am fairly concerned with my 12.9 mpg on my Rubicon. I figured with the 8speed and gearing that I would get 16ish. My wife’s 2016 Sahara gets 16ish. Even straight highway I average 14.5 at 75. I only have 670 miles on it so far so the thought that it will get better is still there. My 2015 F150 averaged 16 city with the 5.0 and 6speed auto.

Anyone experiencing something similar or different?

Your wife’s Sahara probably has 3.21 gearing and has 32” street tires. So the final drive ratio on it is 2.66 in 5th. Your rubicon has 4.10s and a final drive ratio of 2.73 in 8th turning 33” all terrains. Not surprising it’s close or a tad worst. It will get a little better as the engine breaks in. If you compare Sahara to Sahara or Rubicon to Rubicon JK to JL you will see a couple mpg improvement but Sahara to Rubicon unlikely.

I traded in our 2017 JKU Rubicon 3.6 4:10 auto-tran (17.5 mixed city/highway) last Wednesday on our order: 2018 JLU Rubicon 3.6 4:10 auto-tran and we're getting window sticker mileage. Interstate @ 60/65 mph = 25 mpg and neighborhood stop-sign to stop-sign = 16.5 mpg. And about 19-20 mixed city+highway. So far 159 miles on the odometer.0218181437_HDR.jpg0218182056a.jpg

My recent trip I put about 400 miles on mine an averaged 20 on the highway. Commuting to work I average 18/18.5 mpg.

My 1,100 miles were highway at 70-75 getting 16, so I’m guessing I just need to slow down.

I'm getting 16-17avg per tank doing 70-75 on 95 here in Northern VA. This morning I actually avg about 20.5mpg on the way to the office stuck in traffic doing 60-65. I'm getting about avg of what I was getting in my 2016 JKU Sahara 6sp manual with steel bumpers, 2' lift 33" tires, winch, hi-lift, rock sliders with 3.21 gearing where 5th was my highest gear while driving. I can't complain so far with the 1200 miles I have put on it since I got it Feb 5th.

Stock Rubicon 700 miles. Babying it still and have been getting 18mpg. 50% mix of street and highway. I keep it around 65 on highway. Making people mad:mad:

Lol. I’ve had 3 jeeps so far and always drove slow and never really noticed it. Any other car and I’m in the fast lane hauling a$$.
