I didn't realize teraflex was still around. Best of luck either way.
Recently I ordered a Teraflex tire carrier for my 2018 JL that reused the 8 factory bolts to hold the new carrier in place. Teraflex states that the factory bolts be torqued to 25 ft lbs, so as I was installing my Teraflex tire carrier I was tightening the bolts down and SNAP goes one bolt. That should’ve been a sign that I stop but I didn’t and snap goes another bolt. I never got a chance to even torque these bolts down and now I am stuck with 2 half bolts stuck in my tail gate and I can’t use my tire carrier.
I contacted Jeep, notified them of the issue and they told me to contact a dealership to get it repaired under warranty. The dealership told me I could not have this covered under warranty since I was changing my tire carrier to an aftermarket carrier even though I was using factory bolts. I then contacted Teraflex and they couldn’t help me either.
Has anyone else had this happen where the bolts snap this easily? Has anyone ever been successful at having Jeep cover these issues? I am still under 30k miles.

Welcome to JL Wrangler. My bolts were fine and I was able to torque them down. You just need to get you a good set of bolt extractors

Were you using a torque wrench or calibrated hand? Factory torque is 22 ft lbs so 25 shouldn’t have snapped them.

Or cheap Chinese junk bolts.

Why would you think that Jeep cover you snapping bolts off during an install of an aftermarket accessory under warranty?..

A torque wrench

If your worried, I would apply red loctite and get those bolts snug and give it another 1/8 turn. Theres 8 of them so you should be fine
