    Auto on/off

Well, I’ve had my Jeep for almost 3 years, so something had to break. Fortunately it was auto on/off start. Very happy not to have to press the button, though wondering what will go next

If you're auto stop-start ceased functioning on it's own, you may be close to having a battery failure. About the only reason I can think of it would do that is either a control module malfunction or your battery voltage being to low for the Jeep to be happy shutting off when idling. This is only a half-educated guess, though.

The battery seems to be fine but I would hate leaving my Jeep at the dealership for a long time

You said "battery", as singular. Are you aware that the JL has two batteries? If one is going bad, your system may disable the ESS. You'd have to ask somebody smarter than me how to isolate and test them.

    Auto on/off

Scroll through the menu on the display and see what message it shows on the ESS page. It will state something like “ESS not available battery is charging” if one or both batteries are low.

Try charging the batteries or have them load tested. I have the same condition in the colder months. My average daily drives are around seven miles and the battery doesn’t seem to fully charge. During warmer months it works and I have to hit the ESS switch after start up. I’ll eventually get a Tazer and kill the ESS for good.

Went to the dealership and after 6 hours of extensive testing they figured out that BOTH batteries were faulty. Got them replaced and everything is fine now
