Door Hinge Nuts

Is there a difference between the top and bottom door hinge nuts? Was in a hurry to get the doors on before work this morning and two top nuts only tightened part of the way in. All of the bottoms went on fully.

With our last JL, there was one hinge location that we could never get the nut all the way back in.

Thanks for any info.

They are not cross-threaded, they screwed in over half way. If they were cross threaded they would not have gone in that far.

We also tried all of the typical Jeep tricks like wiggling the doors and opening/closing them while tightening to ensure the hinge bolt was centered in the hinge.

The nuts are all the same, but of course the hinge bolts are different lengths. My guess is that they are either cross-threaded or the inserts are corroded.

That’s it, I’m just taking the doors off permanently! Damn the rain and snow!
