Extra weight on spare tire

Hey Folks,

Does anyone here have any idea as to how much extra weight you can hang onto the spare tire of a stock Sahara, before you should be worried?

Thanks

Scientifically speaking, shit-tons. Plenty of people are hanging beadlocks & 37s using the stock carrier. Just make sure you have the rubber spacers setup to make contact and prevent it from wiggling. Those isolators are very important.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm considering hanging some items on the back stock Sahara spare tire when camping, like a 5 or 10 lb propane tank and/or jerry can. Are there any DIY configurations around this idea, or inexpensive solutions on the market that anyone here is aware of? Thanks

Eddie ran a 37” tire with bead locks for awhile and wheeled it pretty good with no issues. Just make sure any extra weight added to the tire carrier is extra snug to avoid vibrations leading to failure. That includes any accessories attached to the tire. Rotopax makes a Jerry can mount that attaches directly to the tailgate hinge.
