Front axle disconnect connection

I recently installed a Clayton off-road FAD skid plate. The plate sits high in the rear to shield the connection point. When installing the skid plate it fits extremely snug against the connector. I contacted an am waiting on a response from Clayton. I compared my fad to others and noticed there’s a difference in the connection. I’m thinking the fad skid plate was designed with the other connection.

I have Metal Cloak skid and it is tight fit also. Have had it for a year and no problems.
