Want to carry some extra fuel. Looking for ideas or recommendations. I already have a 37inch tire with the mopar tailgate reinforcement. Not sure how much more weight I should be adding. I’ve attached a picture of the rear of my Jeep.

Honestly, I've found the realistic need to carry extra fuel to be quite low or at least, here in America anyway. So long as you plan your trips, you should be totally fine without it. But, if you just like the look of gas cans, I would recommend Rotopax if only because of the size options you can get and greater mounting possibilities available.

I thought about using the style that straps around the spare so that I can haul water outside of the Jeep. I've got a pretty nice container that I put in the rear, but sometimes it takes up a little more space than I'd like it to.

Although I don't have one, I have always liked this setup as well. It's relatively lightweight, removable, transferable to any vehicle with a similar spare setup, and there are several container options for fuel, water, and/or storage bins. Overall a pretty neat idea IMO.

I have to agree. If I'd set up a possibilty to carry some I'd go that route. Super quiet, universal fit, fully able to unmount

I cannot imagine any other than the tailgate not holding up, since it is carrying the whole weight as long as no separate tire carrier is installed.
Maybe some users know better

Really? You must be a better planner than I am. I consider my rig to have a somewhat limited fuel range and have more than once found myself anxiously hoping to make it to the next fuel stop - even here in the east. When I head out to the sparse areas like near you I'll certainly feel better if I know there's a few spare gallons back there. Curious to hear what others think.
