JL JOURNAL : WAYALIFE ACM - JL / JT Under the Hood ARB Air Compressor Mount Install

One of the cheapest and easiest things you can do to help improve the ride quality and performance of your Jeep JL Wrangler or JT Gladiator Truck off road, is to let some air out of your tires. This is what a lot people refer to as, “airing down” and it’ll do wonders to help soften up your ride especially when driving on rough but easy terrain like desert mining trails and fire roads. It’ll also help give your tires a bigger footprint and that can make all the difference in things like soft sand and deep snow. Last but not least, it’ll maximize the amount of traction your tires have by allowing them to wrap around rocks and uneven obstacles.

Now, letting air out of your tires is the easy part. How to get air back in is the real question? And, this where a good air compressor like the ARB CKMA12 can come in handy. Sure, there are bigger air compressors you can get but honestly, I can’t say that I’ve ever felt the need for one, even with big 40” tires. Of course, the compact size of this CKMA12 makes it super easy to install under the hood especially if you have one of my air compressor mounts, the ACM. In this short video, you’ll get to see just how easy it is to get one installed.

The WAYALIFE ACM is designed to work with an ARB CKMA12 Air Compressor, a 12V high output on board air compressor that I've used for years, on multiple Jeeps and have always found to work exceptionally well. Because of its compact size, it will allow you to mount it outside the cabin of your JL Wrangler or JT Gladiator and safely under the hood. Installed up against the firewall and under the brake booster, you can access the air chuck from behind the fender liner near the shock tower or you can run a hose extension to a chuck located remotely on your Jeep. Also, if you're wanting to run ARB air lockers on your factory axles or on something like a Dana UD60, Dynatrac ProRock or Currie Rock Jock, the ACM will help make plumbing air lines to the compressor super easy as well. Removal of the driver side fender to install everything will be necessary but otherwise, absolutely no drilling or cutting is required.

The ARB CKMA12 Air Compressor and all components needed to complete this install can be purchased through the Amazon links above.

going to have to bite the bullet on this.

I like the VIAIR compressor but it takes up valuable space!

Awesome vid Eddie! Was starting to look at parts for an on board system and this is what I’ll probably go with. Seeing as you went with a single, is a ACM compatible with a double?

It won't work with the double. With that being said, I own a double and another single on our other two Jeeps and the double isn't that much faster. The double is faster but not enough IMO for the extra 200 bucks; especially on the JL / JT platform where space is so limited.

Thank you for this video Eddie and Cindy! Have an onboard air and was wondering how to install. Great video. This will help a lot.

Awesome, glad we could be of help to you :)

What JTCO said. It won't work and really, I've not seen a need for a twin.

Good video! I will use it when I install the compressor on Tina’s jeep.

Side note, that wiring harness looks scary complicated when you first open it. At least it did to me. It’s not as difficult as it looks.

First, let me say that as usual, the video is stellar and informative, and the Airsupply scene was great. Great product, will definitely be ordering one once I get a new rig. I'm surprised Im the first to ask, but, why did you bother with the harness if you already have the AUX group? From what I understand, it seems you only need the fat positive/negative wire to go from compressor to the 40A aux circuit (which I believe is already fused.). Why bother with the ARB supplied fuse, relay, etc etc etc?

Great stuff as usual, nice start for 2020. I find the location of the chuck a bit too exposed to trail dust, water, mud etc... and might set it up under hood somewhere when i change out the JK. Problem: i want a swb v6 ecodiesel...in europe!!:mad:

At the time of the install, we were planning to run ARB air lockers on our new axles. Using the harness would have made it easier to hook everything up.

The beauty of the remote chuck is that you can located it wherever you want. JTCO located his under the hood and since this video, I've relocated mine to on top of my EVO Quarter Pounder bumper just like I have on my JL.

Air mount with long arm kit

Eddie,

I really enjoyed the informative video. I have the same EVO long arm kit you have on your JL. Is this compatible with the ACM you described?
