DIY winch bumper

Decided to build my own winch bumper - on the cheap. I was inspired by the Evo 1/4 pounder bumper Eddie installed. I get vertigo when bending over and turning my head up so I wanted a stubby bumper so I could access the quick disconnects without crawling under a full width bumper. I also wanted a recessed winch to keep it low. It started out simple but then wanted a place to put the license plate and fog lights. And figured while I'm at might as well put on a bull bar to protect the winch and then add a small led light bar - why not all the cool kids are doing it.
Took a bolt on Smittybuilt bull bar and cut off the flanges and light tabs and modified to my bumper. Sprayed it with Raptor Liner bedliner. Topped it off with the flat link - ya know to really make it mall rated. Pretty happy with how it turned out. With the money I saved I got a winch cover, tree saver and a snatch block.

Nice work!

It takes a lot of skill to pull off a good clean look like that.

It looks very similar to an LoD bumper, but with the pride of doing it yourself.

I want one. Soooo, how much would you say you invested and yes, time counts.

I built my own desk once and someone asked to buy it, I said sure for $4000. Hahaha

I spent about $150 at Metal supermarkets for pieces of 1/4" and 3/16" - turns out I had enough in my scrap pile to build most of it and only used about 1/2 the sheet of 3/16". I think the clevises and mounts were $80 on amazon, the winch was about $425 including a cover, snatch block and tree saver. The light was around $60 at HF and the bull bar was around another $60 off Amazon. Plus a pile of grade 8 hardware - but tractor supply sells by the pound at a ridiculously low price so that was was under $30 I'd say. So figure around $350 just to make the bumper if I didn't have the scrap. but of course that doesn't include the tools and consumables like the welder, plasma cutter, cut of wheels, flap wheels and Raptor liner I had left over from another project.
