What does the bracket on the bottom of the tire carrier do?

Itís pretty sturdy. E-coated, you donít have to worry about rust issues.

Iím more intrigued by the fact that no bracket, light, or camera needs to be removed to get the tire off. I religiously rotate my tires and my biggest gripe is the spare tire change. I also managed to break on camera lifting the heavy wheel up and hitting the lens.

Itís definitely easier to get the spare off. No need to remove any other pieces or brackets.
