I think my torque wrench is broken?

Hey y’all! Did some simple wrenching tonight that required my torque wrench. I set it correctly to 80 ft/lbs & proceeded to go. I know I was exerting WAY more pressure than it took to take these bolts off. How can I tell if my torque wrench is shot? I store it fully unloaded & it’s a craftsman from a few years back. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Tekton has info on how to calibrate a torque wrench.

Nice thanks! I’ll see if this can save mine.

One of these?

If so, it's one of the worst Craftsman tools that I've ever owned. Toss it and get either a TEKTON or a CDI.

No shit, that’s her all right! I kept thinking it was me but it constantly unlocks & the grip spins to change the torque. Just been pissing me off!

Throw it in the trash and get a Tekton off Amazon. Ask me how I know.

Your timing is hilarious. I was doing rock sliders on a body mount.

Damn! Glad you got your sliders sorted though.

I have one of the craftsman’s and the jam nut inside the handle comes loose and then the adjustment nut can lose position, terrible set up without loctite.

I love my Craftsman lol! Of course I’ve had it awhile and it’s one of the better Craftsmans... they do make some lower end crappy ones. When this is wore out I’ll definitely consider a Tekton based on you alls recommendations!
