Transmission linkage

know what this little bracket does? It does not move at all when I move the shifter or t case shifter. Noticed it as I was putting my new t case in and it was blocking my from putting in a bolt. Not sure how I got the bolt out without loosening it. I had to move it a bit to get the bolt it.

It’s only connected by that bottom nut

Can anyone check theirs?

Still no idea what it does but everything works great. 5.13 1st gear 5.13 in the diffs and 4:1 transfer case. It just won’t stall! Love it.
