Not that I've ever noticed. Although to be honest, I don't really pay attention to it. LOL.

I donít have any squeaking or noises when opening tailgate. It is slightly harder to open. But I do need to pull it off the Jeep once the weather breaks because it is rusting like a bitch here in Wisconsin. I have rust streaks running down the tailgate.

That must be the reason none of my Jeep attracts dirt. 😅

What?! This soon I think its a bit too early to begin to rust there...not even my 28 year old YJ has rust on its tailgate and people love deploying salt during cold weather

Ive been saving and was just about to order the rear tire carrier from EVO. After this thread now Iím considering waiting. Is there really allot of issues. Squeaks and rust and harder time open? That doesnít sound like a solution....

Maybe not a perfect solution but it does solve the question of how to safely and securely carry a large spare tire. Overall, I'm still happy with mine - just keeping it real.

Thanks for the feedback Eddie. Is there room to install zerk fitting and would you think that would resolve or minimize any concerns?

    Trying to find solutions.....

I was thinking about adding a zerk to my joints but squirted some chain lube on/in them this past week and all is good and quiet now, for a while anyway. Great carrier so far for me.
