Rubicon Slider Upgrade

First off, I am well aware that these are not the ultimate in strength or protection. However, for my use case they will be sufficient. With that out of the way, here are some pictures of how I augmented my factory Rubicon sliders.

I started with some 1-1/2" x 0.120" tube:

Then I mocked it up on the Jeep:

When I was happy with it, I pulled the slider and finished the welding up on the bench:

A quick rinse-and-repeat for the passengers side, and then a coat of paint to match my front bumper:

That looks really good. Nice work. The sliders I have on mine are actually similar to that and they've held up fine. Mine are welded to the frame, but regardless, they've taken good hits and do their job and the body of the Jeep has never been damaged. I think you'll be just fine.

Best bang for your buck IMO. I had my JK sliders modified similarly and they held up to years of abuse.
