Hot Air occassionally

Just picked up my new JL Rubi in firecracker red last week. We were bringing it home (Kentucky to Florida). We of course had the air on. We would occasionally get a blast of hot air coming from the floor area. The air vents continued to blow cold air during this time. It only seemed to last for a minute or two - and then it was gone (maybe once the fans kicked in??). As I say, it was a hot day and we travelled 800+ miles.

Anyone else experience this?

After doing some more web searches, this seems to be a fairly common complaint on longer drives in humid areas. It has been reported to FCA - but I did not see a fix yet, in fact FCA seemed to indicate it was "feature", LOL.

Yeah, there are a number of people who have this problem. I can't say that I've experienced it on my JL but that is not to say it isn't happening - more like, I may not be noticing it.

Well your not alone, at first when I picked up my JLU Rubicon I thought I did something wrong in the air conditioning settings as occasionally I would get a mixture of outside air circulation, but this was not consistent so I just ignored it.

So I thought nothing of it, and then the wife commented asking me if I switched of the aircon, and that's when I realised it wasn't me imagining it. So I decided to try and trace the issue during a long drive with the help of the wife and she noticed the same hot air blowing again around the feet area. So after a couple of Google searches, it turns out that this is apparently a JL feature to recirculate the cabin air.

Why? I have no idea and didn't really understand the point of it being a feature as I never had this on any on my Jeeps.

However, luckly there is a way to disable the feature if you want too by unpluging the recirculation connector that controls the recirc damper, which partially opens allowing the outside air to enter the cabin located just below the glove box hence why its felt in the feet area. Now by doing this it just means unplugging another connector to resolve a simple issue like the auto / start feature that alot hate. I did disconnect it to test it out and I did not get anymore hot air blowing in the cabin. I also didn't get any error codes reflecting in the dash either. So I'll just leave that connector unplugged until something official pops up LOL.

However, I'm just hoping this is something that can be disabled by Jeep at some stage or maybe a possible option through the JL Tazer [emoji16] fingers crossed.
