Thread: JL WRANGLER Homemade Tailgate CB Radio Antenna Mount & Wiring WRITE-UP

  1. #21

    Question!?!

Eddie (or anyone who knows), I know you connected your power to the red/white aux wire bc it goes directly to the battery. Is there any benefit to running a separate power wire directly to the battery? Iím just wondering if the potential benefit is worth the effort? Iím just wiring in a cobra 75 kit with antennae to the tailgate using the cool tech kit.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have anything behind your mount to protect the paint on the hinges?

I used spacers between the mount and hinges so the two don't touch. The spacers sit in the holes on the hinges where the bolt heads were.

Not that I know of. If there were a benefit, I would have done it.

Do you happen to have a link for the spacers?

Sorry, I don't. I got them at a local hardware store. If I recall, they were 10mm spacers but you could just as easily stack washers to get you the same results. Of course, you will need to use longer bolts too.

Eddie how did you attach the gear keeper. My mic seems to hang a lot lower than yours.

I'm not Eddie, but if I may... remove the hook, add Velcro.
