CHILLIN in the SHADE - JL Wrangler SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE for JET Li

As much as Cindy and I love driving our Jeeps around doorless and topless, the sun out here in the Nevada can have a way of beating on you like a drum and having a little protection from it, can be nice to have. On our JK's, we solved this problem by running a Safari Top or our Bestop Trek Tops without any of the windows on but there's something to be said about being able to still see the sky. Needless to say, when we finally got around to stripping down JET Li, our 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, we decided to get a SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE.

Made in the U.S.A., the SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE is designed to block up to 90% of sun's harmful UV rays, reduce wind noise and it can even stay on when it comes time to re-install the factory top. Of course, for our purposes, we love the fact that it's just a shade, made out of a screen and not a shield that completely blocks our view of the sky.

For those of you who are interested, you can by a SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE simply by clicking on the link below:

Anyway, there's no point in me talking about all this when I can just as easily show you just how cool the SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE really is. Here's a few pics of what it looks like installed on JET Li.

If you still can't see it, that's because SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE designed their clear protector to be that way - INVISIBLE. To help prevent chafing and wearing down of the paint, SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE provides a clear film that gets applied to the top of the JL Wrangler's C-Pillar Roll bar and it does its job well.

As you can see here, the sky above is still visible and even the sun still shines through but screened and enough so to offer well needed shade.

Here's a shot of how the SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE attaches to the roll bar of your JL Wrangler.

The bungee cords are secured in place to SPIDER NUBS that get installed onto factory trim screws.

And, as an added bonus, we picked up one of these - a SPIDERWEBSHADE MESH GRAB BAG that attaches to the grab bar on the passenger side of the JL Wrangler.

Anyway, just thought I'd share what we've been doing with our JL Wrangler. If any of you are thinking about running topless and would like a little shade from the sun, I would highly recommend the original SPIDERWEB SUNSHADE.

Ic they made a cut out to get your hand up in there to lock the freedom panels in the middle... nice! I had this on my JK and loved it. I just couldn't gain access to the middle latch so I would just slide it under the other panel so it would lock.

Yup, they made it a lot easier to just leave in place and still get something like the freedom top panels installed. :yup:

I loved the one I had on the JK. But was hesitant on the JL because I didn’t like how the shade was on the painted surface of the C pillar cross bar. But now that they offer the clear protection for the paint I’m back interested. Now just need to decide what color. Black, red or gray?

Agreed, it really is as good as it gets and on the JL, I'd say that it's even better. :yup:

Have had one on my JL since mid April. I love it.

Awesome

Always wanted to get one for the jk but never have. I really should reconsider it

Never too late :D

Nice way to keep that sun from beating down on you. And looks great on there as well :thumb:

Definitely does its job well while looking good too :thumb:

Oh, you definitely want one of these over the competition out there. :yup:

On the JK the also had a cargo net to go with top. It wasn't cheap but it was worth every penny. I hope they sell one for the JL.

I actually ordered one of these before my JL even shipped lol. Eddie has one of the later versions, which is great! I initially got one of the previous models which just had the loops sewn into the mesh. It failed, and the loops began pulling out during install. Spiderwebshade sent me a new one immediately (fantastic folks over there), and I received one like Eddie’s. You can tell the difference when looking at how the loops connect to the mesh. He newer ones have the black dome-shaped fasteners on them that hold the loops to the mesh. These are really quality shades, and probably one of my favorite Jeep mods so far!

Cheers,

Really looks nice, I will put it on my wish list! Nice side-view mirror :thumb: I missed info on the type of CB antenna you went with, but I see it here...looks really good.

I made my own mount and have a Firestik II on it. I'll try to make a post about what I did as soon as I can. :yup:

Just noticed that my spiderwebsunshade has scuffed my paint on my new JL.
It's at the back on top, right behind there label. Not too happy as I really, really like it. I will post a pic tomorrow. Just got back from wheeling.

Safe to assume you got the original one that didn't come with the 3M clear protector film? The new version, the one I installed did - hence, why I make a note to talk about it in my post.

The original one? So now there's 2 versions. We'll just goes to show you shouldn't early adopt. I didn't read the whole post but I'm not happy they sold one that scuffs the paint on the back then changed it especially for what they charge for it. I'm not trying to blow them up but just makes me hesitant to buy anything for my JL now.
