Climbing Waterfalls @ Disney

Instead of going to Colorado this year, our plans changed to do some off-reading with some old friends in Oklahoma. Going to the ORV Park in Disney to play in the water and on the rocks. The trails there range from beginner to advanced. Since our JLUR is stock except for cosmetics, we will see what we can do.

We're hoping to be able to make it up the waterfalls but not sure if the stock JLUR will make it. Especially since we've got to drive it 12 hours the next day to get home. The group we are going with consists of all different Jeeps; some relatively stock while others are completely built running 40s.

It's going to be a blast and completely different than the wooded trails we have around Chicagoland!

Phase 3 complete.

Helped my nephew move into his room for college at OSU. Of course we had to stop at Eskimo Joe's!

Had one of their Skylab drinks that I loved so much during my college years. Today however, I only had one.IMG_20180813_172627075.jpegIMG_20180813_174438137.jpeg

No trip to Tulsa is complete without a trip to Woolaroc; Frank Phillips' old place. Mr. Phillips was the founder of Phillips 66 petroleum. So much to see here. We had such a great time learning about Native American life, the life of trappers and bank robbers.

He was a very avid collector. He built a museum to house his vast gun collection and his collection of paintings and statues. Most of the artwork is "old west" artwork. I really love the large-scale paintings that are 8'x12' or larger.

He also had a very wicked sense of humor too. Great story about Roosevelt and the buffalo hunt.IMG_20180815_171621895_HDR.jpegIMG_20180815_132239084_HDR.jpegIMG_20180815_134154523_HDR.jpegIMG_20180815_152416154.jpegIMG_20180815_185558.jpegIMG_20180815_161449860.jpegIMG_20180815_155708779.jpegIMG_20180815_153202865.jpeg

Phase one complete. We've driven past this place 1000 times on trips back and forth and finally took the time to stop.

I’ve driven past that place so many times over the years. Every time I say, I’ll check it out next time... still never been.

It was a surprise birthday party for one of the Jeep club members and there were around 25 Jeeps there ranging from stock to extremely modified. A lot of JKs, a couple JLs, a few TJs and a couple YJs. There was even an XJ!

It was a lot of fun. The first obstacle we climbed was "three fingers" leading up to "panty hill." The line we took was the easiest line, maxing out around 40 degrees of loose rock and dirt with about a 1 foot high vertical rock wall half way up between the turns for good measure. It was intimidating for sure but the JLUR in 4WD low made it with no problems.
