Congrats to you on getting your JL back :thumb:

Thanks. Felt good to take it out for a little flexing today. It was mild, but both my daughter and I were out several times to check the welds. 🀞

Congrats on getting it back. Now get back to modding and showing your goodies so we can live vicariously through you.

Found a box on my porch today. I had completely forgotten about the order that I had placed Saturday.

I figured that it was time to show the JL a little love now that it was back in the garage. At 1 year and 13,000 miles I've never replaced the cabin filter, and it's been some time since I replaced the air filter.

Many years (read "decades") ago I used to deliver auto parts. It was back then that I developed a respect for WIX Filters, however it's been a while since I've purchased any. I happened to have a coupon for O'Reilly's, so I thought I'd give WIX a shot and ordered a set of JL Wrangler cabin and air filters.

WIX filters unboxed.

OE cabin filter next to WIX cabin filter. Note both are MADE IN USA, and both look identical (with the exception of the printing).

New cabin filter vs old at 13k miles.

WIX air filter vs OE. Once again identical construction with exception of the printing on the side. Note that both are Hecho en Mexico.

Both replacement filters fit perfectly.

I guess it's safe to say that WIX more than likely manufacturers Jeep JL Wrangler OE/Mopar filters. Here are the WIX part numbers should you wish to try them out. Also, please be aware that these filters were installed on a 2018 3.6 Automatic JLUR.

Crazy that OEM is made in Mexico and aftermarket is made in the USA. I'll bet Mopar charges a ton more too, lol.

As far as the last picture, glad to see you finally got an oil catch can. Now you can post some really cool pics online.

Both cabin filters (Mopar and WIX) were made in the USA, and both air filters (Mopar and WIX) were made in Mexico. Both aftermarket filters share the same construction and the same country of origin as Mopar, yet were definitely cheaper. At least after the coupon they were.

Oh shit, a catch can.

Lol, nope. I've been promising Overlander that I would show him my tool, and just wanted to give him a little tease. 😜

You know, I couldn't believe how filthy the cabin filter was at 13,000 miles. Hmmm...

Maybe I need a catch can?

JEEP'S SMALLEST SKID?

I dropped the EVO MFG JLU 3.6L Protek Engine/Trans skid plate today to perform some routine inspection, and saw something that I had never noticed before.

In the first picture you can see the reason that I installed the EVO skid - the exposed transmission lines (circled in green). But you'll also notice a piece of plastic indicated by the orange arrow.

Turns out my JLU came with a transmission skid after all.
