Fine tuning Flex

Was finally able to follow Edddie’s lead. I reshaped the rear plastic where is was rubbing and was actually able to run the steering stops in a bit more. After removing the rear bumper and adding the front I wanted to see if there was going to be any rubbing.

I ran it up the mountain behind my house. Nothing technical or hard but will flex it out nicely in a few areas. A little of everything up there, some high speed, rocks etc. Dropped the pressure to 12 psi. These JL’s are some kinda comfy and quiet. I thought it was a huge step going from a TJ to a JK. This is a whole other beast. So quiet too. Anyways a few pics.

Again these are 37-12.50-17 KO2’s on factory wheels with no spacers and a 2.5” RC lift. No rubbing anywhere.

This is crazy. So it officially takes nothing but a heat gun and a 2.5"+ lift to run 37's on a JLUR. I really can't wait to get my own. Thanks for doing this "experiment" for us.

Yup, that's pretty much it. Here's a video that'll show you where the problem spots are and what you'll need to address.

Eddie, great video. I'm wondering if the adjustments you made to Jet Li in order to minimize rubbing on your 37" tires, would have the same effect on a 35" tire on stock suspension?

Assuming you run bump stop extensions, I suppose it is possible on a Rubicon.

Great info, im planning on doing the same setup. Stock wheels on Cooper stt pro 37x12.50/R17. Good to hear rubbing issues are easily fixed. My only concern is i read somewhere that power is terrible anything over 60mph? Im not planning on going 95 but here in Texas normal speed limit is 75mph, I'd like to atleast be able to do 70mph without feeling my new shiny JL is falling apart, lol...thanks for all the great info, pics, and videos guys.

Not sure where you read that but nothing could be further from the truth. Maybe on an older JK but on a JL with its new 8-speed automatic transmission, you shouldn't have any problems at all and well up to 80 MPH or more. Trust me, I've done it out here in Nevada and in Utah where we have stretches of highway where the speed limit is 80 MPH. Going up and over mountain passes isn't an issue either and we have a bunch of them out here.

Great to hear it, that had me worried, and thanks for the quick response. I should be installing my 2.5RC lift next weekend and hope my tires arrive by then. Hopefully I can make it to Moab this summer.

My apologies if you have already answered this elsewhere, but which direction do you have the RC rear bumpstop spacers installed? Are they laying down for the 2" extension, or upright for the 3" extension?

Just the 2” extension. I apologize for not including this info.

Awesome video. I used this for mine. And every time I see those tires I have a little jealousy that works it way out. Lol.

Thanks for the info! I've got the same lift and tires, but I'm running 1.5" wheel spacers... I have my rear bumps oriented for the taller option, but I haven't yet had the opportunity to cross mine up as drastically as you have. Stupid shopping mall parking lot is in pretty good shape this time of year
