JL Wrangler Factory Frame Weld Quality on JET Li

Being that we got a really early build, I've had a number of people ask me about what the factory frame welds look like on JET Li, our brand new 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Needless to say, I racked him up and took the following photos to give you a sampling of things. As you'll see, they're nothing to write home about but with the exception of some porosity, I think most of it is decent. Granted, I couldn't tell you what kind of penetration they have. Give them a look and let me know what do you think.

Pretty much everything else looks similar if not the same on the passenger side frame rail. Please let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see. So long as he's still racked up, I'd be more than happy to do what I can to accommodate you.

Thanks for that amount of time you spent on this again!
Pretty interesting how bad some welds look like, on a $50k jeep. I know, it is underneath the car and most people don't care, but a cleaner look would make me happier in means of quality. Especially the little weld splashes and pores appear as weaknesses for rust to grow. But as long as everything holds together I'm fine and I surely will conservate my frame when I get a JL

Some of those are pretty shitty. I think the ones that have porosity still serve their purpose for that location though. But I'm surprised they all aren't cleaner looking.

Mine looks pretty much the same. I don’t think, other than some ugliness, anything Is really wrong. I have some porosity in some of mine but no more than any other frames. As Overlander said.....looks like Jeeps.
Thanks for the pics. It helped me compare to mine.

I saw some reports on this. Disappointing on the weld quality.

Now I want to crawl under my JK again when I get it back.

I took a quick look last weekend. Most look similar to the pics here. Not sure I would really know a good weld from a shitty weld unless it was really obvious.

I’ll need to get under there again and look a bit closer when I have more time to spend doing so.

Last weekend I was focused on scrubbing engine “moss.”
