!! Track bar bracket on frame weld issues !!

I would agree that most due. If that were the case and that simple, the fix would be to have the dealership welder reweld the bracket. I have read in other forums that in a couple cases where the track bar completely broke off, the simple fix of rewelding the track bar mount was not the case. The vehicle was bought back by FCA, and the customer received a new vehicle.

It remains to be seen what the fix would be for Jeeps that have bad welds. I guess we will just wait and see.

That's the problem with social media - it doesn't take much to hype up a handful of incidents and make it seem like every Jeep being made is going to self-destruct. It's great that FCA is being preemptive and cautious here but the reality is, a vast majority of us are more than likely fine.

I agree about Social Media, I still laugh at people with Facebook. I look to forums such as this, and others like it for informational purposes. I don't just read one forum as each have there own opinions. Many of those opinions on Social Media stated the welds are fine, there are no issues with the welds. Now there is a recall with the welds on the track bar. The positive is that people are aware of the issue. If not for Social Media, many would not even know of the existence of the recall.

Is this recall huge compared to others where millions of cars are affected, no. The recall was for approximately 18000 vehicles which they believe to be 4% of those are affected. Jeep sold 16000 in September alone.

Mine is on the list to be recalled, I have inspected my welds and to my untrained eye, they appear to be fine. If I was not proactive and reading these forums, I would not know about the recall until I received a letter from FCA.

My point is, you more than likely DO NOT have a problem with your frame. Your Jeep being on the list just means that FCA wants to look at it - just to be sure. All the "proactive reading" you've been doing has only served to make you worry about something that more than likely don't need to be worried about. In other words, like so many others out there, you've been stressing out over a whole lot of nothing when you could have been out playing instead. But of course, that's just my opinion.

I don't think I missed your point at all, I believe you posted about the welds in one of your threads. My assumption is that some folks here had concerns so you decided to post pictures.

As stated earlier, my welds appear to be fine, but its on the recall list and will take appropriate steps. I think you're stating your unfounded opinion again that I have been stressing. I thought I was being proactive in helping the community, I must have been wrong. I will go ahead and no longer be part of this forum. Its apparent that your "opinion" is the only one that matters. As the saying goes, "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink."

:cheesy: umm, okay - guess I hit a nerve or something. Last I checked, this is a forum, a place where people share ideas, converse and express their opinions. Apparently, you seem to think that I'm not entitled to one. :idontknow:

Best of luck to you :standing wave:

I do have bad frame welds and hope/expect that FCA will help but I agree that stressing about it in the meantime doesn’t help your quality of life and proclaiming that the sky is falling on other social media sites wont help our 2018 Wrangler resale value in the future.

Mine is a December 2017 build. I checked the welds and they look perfect. I'll try and get a pic up soon to show what this was intended to look like before the welding robot started smoking weed and screwing up the welds.

Wanted to mention something about the recall ...so I went into the local dealer to setup an appointment for the recall and they didn’t know about it. I was surprised since it’s been out a while and the uconnect shows it they definitely had no clue bout the PCM recall and I’m wondering how proactive they are about these recalls? I seem to remember that vehicles couldn’t be sold with open recalls and since the dealer was unaware the Mojito rubicon they sold last week wasn’t done either. And after looking it up the service writer said the way it’s written that if one is found bad then FCA will send a welder out to fix the problem so how long would that take? But my biggest concern really is that as clueless as she was about the recall how confident should I be that they actually even know what to look for or what they would say was good versus what is or isn’t and today I heard about 2 more recalls

If they actually read the recall they would know they don’t determine if it’s bad or not. All they do is check the frame number if outside the number listed it’s fine. If inside the numbers they take pictures of the inside and outside welds and send them to FCA for them to determine if they are good or bad.

We're sorry to hear this, Shadowfire. Would you feel more comfortable if a Case Specialist was involved? Send me a direct message with your VIN as I'd be glad to create a case and escalate this to one.
