2019 Premium Top Bottom Tabs

Hi all!
I think the answer to this is "suck it up buttercup" but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I've got a 2019 JLUR with the premium soft top. Love it! It's been very fun, and we've taken it on the trail, camping, and tailgating. In chilly weather the top gets stiff. My question is the bottom ~3 inch wide tabs on either side. When it's cold they're a bear to dig out with my index finger, and I nearly always slice my finger doing it.

Anyone have any tips or tricks to break those free, or, conversely, any problem just leaving them undone?

In the summer mine are usually in undone. I use the hard top in winter so I don’t know how much cold air it would let in undone. I would probably just leave them undone.
