I think you built yours a little better than that particular one, your tire is mounted much lower and doesn't put as much leverage on the spindle. BTW, totally dig the stealth look of that setup, nice work!! As for what happened to that one in particular, you can see from the close-up of the...

I'll give you my $0.02, worth exactly what you paid for it... I've built a lot of bumpers and tire carriers over the years, and the vast majority of them have been on wheeling-oriented vehicles. Trailer spindles are not for tire carriers, period. Just like in your suspension mounts...

Maybe you could figure out a way to make something like this work? I also remember looking at something like this for our previous JKU, might be an option? Folding cargo platform

I had my 37" KO2's on the stock rims for about 5,000 miles before switching to the Fuel wheels I'm currently running. I ran the Rubicon Trail at 8psi without an issue, and regularly run our local trails at the same pressure. In the snow I'll go down to 4 or 5psi.

It's a squeeze, but it can be done. I'm 6'-2" and this was back in my pre-dad-bod days: Little tighter nowadays but I still manage :o
