It was all that Cindy and I could do to not take JET Li, our brand new 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited out on the trail immediately after buying him. And, after spending 3 days of documenting everything we could and taking photos inside and out, it was finally time give him his very first taste of dirt! As luck would have it, that dirt is just down the street from us and in this episode of the JL Journal, you'll get to see us do some basic testing off road such as: shifting into 4WD, testing out the suspension and ride quality of the JL on rough terrain, shifting into 4-Low, disconnect the sway bar and taking some baby steps up some bigger rocks. It isn't much but we even locked up his axles and pushed him just a bit further, resulting in his very first cuts and bruises. We hope you enjoy.

JL JOURNAL is a WAYALIFE Production with a focus on the all new Jeep JL Wrangler. This YouTube video series will highlight every aspect of our Jeep JL Wrangler and of course, all the adventures that it takes us on. We hope that you'll follow us along on our journey.

VIDEO : JL JOURNAL - First Taste of DIRT

You honestly need to stop making these awesome videos. I might just have to piss the wifey and buy a new JLU. Damn you made me cringe with those new scratches.

Great video! Looks like jet handles the rocks very well!

How did the steering feel when locked? I know on my jk it can feel “tight” since I don’t have hydro assist yet. Wasn’t sure if you felt like your were fighting it to turn at all.

These videos are killing me, i'm watching you enjoy the hell out of your JLUR, while i sit and wait for mine to arrive, Hahahaha.

Actually keep it up, i'm enjoying these video's, thanks[emoji4]

:cheesy: You're gonna love your JL :yup:

Tony has offered a few times. Just haven’t been able to make it work yet. Lol

LOL!! Just wanted to make sure - just in case he didn't trust you. :D

It’s not right that while watching this, my wife was clearly more upset when you scraped paint with your JL... than when we have with our JK. [emoji848]

:cheesy: I'm touched :D

Well, we are still running stock tire but I could hardly tell that I was locked with this new electric steering.

That’s good to know cause even with 35’s I knew I struggled a little bit. Sounds like this will do better

Hello Eddie&Cindy

My wife Lisa and I are holding out for a 3.0 turbo diesel 6 cylinder in Mojito green!!!
But I have a question that while help us build our JL. (Rubicon or Sport) How much are you planning on building the JL if you have Moby and Rubicat,
If your going big what was the advantage of getting a Rubicon?

I understand transfer case if you don't change it out, I get Elec disconnect front axle if your not going with Moby front axle set up, but if your changing all those parts why not buy a sport and save money THEN build the new JL with BIG after market products?

Trying to decided where to spend our bucks at the dealer or the after market options.

Please help us figure out HOW to order our Mojito. 👍🏽

Thank you both

I bought a sport and have put everything else into it at this point besides a new transfer case. I’ll never buy a sport again.

What I can tell you is that we've done it both ways. Back in 2007, we started off with a Rubicon. In 2009, we started off with a bare bones X thinking that we'd swap everything. In 2011, we bought a Rubicon and started all over again. You're just so much further along with a Rubicon if only because you get the 4:1 transfer case and e-disco. The axles can be sold or run for quite a long time with 37's and you can't get interior Rubicon options on a Sport.

4HI looks pretty impressive.

Luckily, dealers don't have many Rubicons on the lots :thumb:

I'm liking everything about them so far - thanks for these clips!

there are still 5 more weekends until EJS then 10 more weekends afterwards until summer... no pressure but keep the videos coming! :yup:
