That is actually pretty cool. Prior to optimum turbo boost, how does the system know that it is needed? I assume it is software based and detects the lower rpm?

So on this engine option, the an alternator doesn't exist at all?
Software based and it can put out extra torque even when engine is at full load. Think WOT conditions etc. It works well.

And yes it replaces the alternator completely. Several journalists too pictures while I explained it to them. Let me see if i can find one.

That's pretty cool. So when it puts more power to the crankshaft, is this via a separate belt than the serpentine for other accessories? Anxious to see this thing.

Yes it is a large belt with dual stabilizers/tensioners. The only other accessory is the ac compressor, remember the steering is electro hydraulic and not mounted on engine

OK. Kinda makes sense. Seems like everybody is going to electric steering. Please do post a picture if you find one. Water pump driven by timing belt/chain then?

Oh ya forgot about water pump lol. But I don’t remember seeing a belt where it should be. Trying to find picture.

The steering is still hydraulic, just the pump is electric. The biggest benefit there is it can boost the flow and pressure irregardless of engine speed. Ie full assist at idle.

LOL!! Even if you weren't, I did make a note of it. The guys over there are still fence sitters or just outright skeptics. Here, you find all the converts  :D

Early adopters. [emoji6][emoji106]

I'd like to think of myself as more of a squatter for about a year, until I get my hands on a diesel, until then, I'll just talk about snorkels and overlanding.

I won't lie, I really would like to have a diesel in the truck but I really couldn't care less about having one in a JL. Certainly, it's not like you can even be sure to find diesel in some of the remote locations I've been but then, that is just me.

Do you all worry about the lithium-ion batteries catching fire underneath the JL on the mild hybrid? It seems like they would be more prone deformation exposing their insides to oxygen starting a fire there.

If I had ordered my JL with this, I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be something that concerned me at least a little.
