Ya that’s a race buggy and has nothing to do with parts in my budget. Cool video. And I understand the strong following here for EVO. I’m still new to 4x4. I’ve never had a Jeep. And trying to figure out what I want to spend my money on. For a lightly used mostly street driven JL.
But thanks for all the replies.

LOL!! Sorry my friend but you couldn't be more wrong. That is a 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Sahara that's been built up to race 4400 but it's far from being a "buggy". Hell, my JK is built with same suspension system and to the point where EVO has borrowed parts off of it during multiple races and I consider it to be my grocery-getter.

Well I get it, I don’t know anything about jeeps. Or the definitions of how to describe how built and Jeep is. But both of those jeeps are very modified. And very little original. Jeep. hell thats not even a Jeep engine.
I have friends that think there pro mod is a street car also because it’s street legal.

I guess I’ll start a thread on how to define jeeps, for all of us that are new.

Thanks for all the reply’s. Like I said I was afraid to ask.

No need to start a new thread.

DEFINITION OF JEEPING: "Building a vehicle to your liking. This vehicle may lead you to enjoy the great outdoors or your local Home Depot. Using quality parts or shit parts will be expensive for the Jeep build, however, using quality parts will prolong your enjoyment and limit frustration." SOURCE- Webster's fucking dictionary.

:cheesy: I am a total loss. I thought you were asking about MetalCloak - NOT about what a Jeep is. I just posted what I have seen regarding them. You proceeded to talk about some guy running "buggy" lines in a JL which I personally find laughable but, whatever. I posted up a pic of my JK being that it is pretty modified and I don't even consider the lines I take in it as being, "buggy" terrain.

Hang in there, Jetboy.
You will find this forum is among the best places on the web to get info on parts that are actually installed and tested, not just advertised as awesome. The opinions are honest, if not sometimes a little harsh for newbs (include myself in the newb category), but there is a reason they recommend certain brands here like EVO, LoD, Cooper, etc... these folks are Jeepers that have figured out what works.

The 6-pak shocks are a joke for sure. For the money, you'd be better off running coilovers but, that's just my opinion.

Honestly, I think it's great that a relatively new company can do such a great job of marketing. I mean, kudos to them and really, maybe someday they'll get past some of their growing pains...

Until then, I would encourage others to be their test dummy and maybe someday, I'll consider their products.
That last pic [emoji12] !!!

My Rolex Deepsea can withstand being brought down to 33000 feet into the deep abyss. I am not a diver, don't hang out with James Cameron, nor am I ever going to go down to 1/10th that depth, but it's nice to know that I can swim in a pool without worry, and bang the watch around knowing it's built with solid parts that will never break under normal, or even above normal conditions. Yes EVO parts can withstand being rolled down a cliffside and get right back to work....and yes you might never do anything like that, but it's nice to know that when the time comes where you may strike an unexpected rock sticking out of some leaves, that you know you'll be ok. There is a reason why people trust Dynatrac, Evo, Warn, etc...products that have proven themselves, while others are mostly marketing and when the heat comes, they buckle....literally. It's your money, do as you wish. I for one, want to make sure I have the strongest, most reliable parts on my rig when Im 87 miles from the nearest road which is 118 miles from the nearest human. To each their own.

I don’t get it. It isn’t like Metalcloak is inexpensive, and people are pushing, “expensive,” EVO parts. People are just sharing what they’ve seen, and what works. No need to get your feelings hurt over a forum post.

I like their video's too, but I think it's important to mention that they have only been running the MC lift for a short period of time. They ran the stock suspension with a spacer lift for most of the time and they never broke any of the stock parts. They do wheel their Jeep hard. And to whoever said they are pushing shit parts, the reality is that they are showing what you can do on a budget. Unlike a lot of channels that are given a ton of parts for free, they are buying their stuff. They are running a MetalCloak lift but its pretty much their most basic lift. They are just running regular shocks and didn't go with the full blown lift. And I was at Barnwell Mountain for the Big Paw Crawl when they were there. They were running trails with the buggy guys and they made it up the hardest trail easier than some of the buggy guys. I like the fact that they aren't going balls to the wall in building their JL up, but they are just enjoying the shit out of it, which is what the Jeep spirit is about. They do their own thing...

Lol now that’s an opinion! Lol you crack me up!
I guess that’s why I asked.
But what makes there lift crap?
Ride? Engineering? Looks solid. I’m not sold on the 6 pack shock. But the JL dual rate springs and there bushings seem to get good reviews.

Sorry I like Brit’s videos. They’ll try anything and everything.

I don't think they claim the JL is more capable than a buggy. Kevin and Britt showed up at our Big Paw Crawl at Barnwell Mountain here in Texas. They joined the extreme group which was mostly buggies. They ran the hardest trails there. The hardest climb there is DeWoody. I was there and saw them running the trails. They went up and took better lines and got up easier than some of the buggies. There were a lot of folks at that hill talking smack that there was no way the JL was going to get up without pulling rope, but they proved them wrong. Kevin is a really good driver and his wife is an even better spotter. That goes a long ways, and in some ways longer than having a buggy. I have friends with buggies and some of them are horrible drivers but the buggies compensate for their driving skills. I also have one buddy who spent years teaching offroad driving in South Africa for a diamond mining company. I've seen him take a stock ZJ places that you would swear it would be impossible.

LOL - Glad to hear you could swear what I would think is impossible. Apparently, you know me better than me. That being said, just because you have friends with buggies that are “horrible drivers” and got showed up by some guy in a JL, doesn’t mean whatever line they were taking was a “buggy” line. Of course, I’m just a mall crawler so don’t mind me.

What are you trying to prove? I’m assuming you are either good friends with them or are them so just tell us your agenda up front and we will be good.
