NO LIFT & 37's on a JL WRANGLER - Can it be done?

Because the fenders on a Jeep JL Wrangler Rubicon sit physically higher than a Sport or Sahara, I've had a lot of people asking me, "what's the biggest tire you can run without a lift"? Certainly, the wheel wells are quite large and even Jeep has stated that you could safely run 35's for around town driving but would it be possible to run a set of 37's or at least for a brief period of time? Being that Cindy and I had just finished installing a set of KMC XD231 Robby Gordon Beadlock Wheels onto our new 37x13.50 Cooper STT Pros, we decided to find out for ourselves and the following pics will show you what it looks like.

First up, here are a few shots of what our new KMC XD231 Robby Gordon Beadlock Wheels look like mounted on 37x13.50 Cooper STT Pros.

Hmmmm - sizing things up, it looks like it's gonna be a tight fit.

First one on and all I can say is WOW!

Here's a head on side-by-side size comparison of what stock 33" KO2 and a 37x13.50 STT Pro look like.

Oh yeah - all 4 wheels installed! Racked up like this, you can even get a sense of what JET Li will look like with a lift on.

Time to roll JET Li out of the stable and into the sun for some better shots.

I have to say, this low stance looks really mean.

So, what's the verdict you might ask? Well, what I can tell you is that with the right amount of back spacing, you can drive a JL Wrangler Rubicon with 37's and steer it without your tires making any contact with the frame or suspension components. However, the rear tire sit extremely close to an embossed feature on the fender liners and they'll rub on even the slightest of bumps. Needless to say, I would NOT recommend running 37's without at least some kind of lift and with bump stop extensions to match.

I hope you enjoyed see what a bone stock JL Wrangler Rubicon unlimited looks like with a set of 37's.

Wow he does look super mean with that stance. You have any pics of exactly where in the rear he was rubbing? Curious to see if just removing the liner would help at all

We filmed it but I'll try to take a pic of where the tires hit and post it up.

Hi Eddie,
How does the revised V6 and auto do with 37's? Don't they rob a little low end? Did you have to calibrate the speedo? So many questions...

Honestly, we haven't had a chance to really test them out yet. Need to get our lift on first. Hope to let you know soon.

Oh, regarding the speedo, you can have your dealership recalibrate it now.

Oh man those wheels are beautiful, super sick look on the JL bro

Thanks

NO LIFT & 37's on a JL WRANGLER - Can it be done?

I think you missed my post over on WAL, but I'm a little pissed at you right now.

You are making the JL on 37s look way too good. Lol. [emoji6][emoji23][emoji23]

:cheesy: Sorry about that. Between here, there, YouTube and just about everywhere else, it can be hard to keep up with things

Cool wheels, beefy tires, these look great for themselves. The grown track width is awesome, I really like that. But without a lift it looks kind of strange....but I know you have everything to change it very soon ;-)
Looking forward to Jet Li on steroids

Lol I am literally installing the Cooper 37x12.5 on right now for a test fitting. No lift (gonna try the Mopar 2” tomorrow). Seeing Jet’s cool is giving me butterflies.

What wheels did you go with?

Oh yeah, we're working on the lift now but to be honest, we kind of like this low stance.
