Hello fellow Jeepers!!!

We've all read up on the underbody armor that has been much improved on the JL Rubicon over the JK Rubicon.

I'm hoping that with this thread we can share our knowledge of what all has been upgraded.

That said, I would like to kick start the thread with some Underbody (and the steel bumper group option) of first...

1. 2017 JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon RECON

2. 2018 JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

Enjoy the pics.

I'm not sure what order these pictures will be posted, however, I have have uploaded them in order as follows:

2017 JKU Rubicon Recon; 1. Under rear, 2. Under front, 3. Rear bumper, 4. Front bumper.

2018 JLU Rubicon; 1. Under rear, 2. Under front, 3. Rear bumper, 4. Front bumper.0302181329_HDR.jpg0302181330.jpg0302181331a.jpg0302181332.jpg0302181331.jpg0302181331_HDR.jpg0302181331b.jpg0302181332a.jpg

One thing I really like, is that my 2018 JLU Rubicon has 1/8" (+/-) STEEL air dam (up under the radiator). In my 2017 JKU Rubicon, the air dam was plastic like on the Sahara and Sport packages.

The air dam is also plastic on the 2018 JLU Rubicon. Only upgrading to the steel bumper group gets you the steel air dam/skid. I agree that it is a nice upgrade.

So which is better?

And is there anything glaring that is missing from the JL that one should get an aftermarket skid plate for?
