While the steel front bumper that you can get as an option on Rubicon model JL's do look great, the one thing that Cindy and I love most about them is that it can be converted into a stubby with ease and simply by removing the end caps. Of course, the benefit of running is stubby front bumper is that you'll no longer have anything blocking your front tires and that'll allow them to nose right up to bigger obstacles.

With a ratchet in hand, a Torx T-45 bit and a few minutes of your time, your full width JL Wrangler Rubicon steel front bumper can go from looking like this...

I've never been a fan of full or mid width bumpers on a Wrangler. That looks great.

It’s cool that it’s made that way, and you didn’t have to cut anything.

Seriously - that's the best part :thumb:

Awesome! Now it’s just time for a winch plate and an power plant!

Yup. Only, we may try going a different route with the winch. PowerPlant has been around for a long time - may be time to try something new :yup:

Couldn't agree with you more :yup:

Is the fog light surround steel or plastic?

Its steel on JL, not plastic like JK. It isn't heavy gauge steel, but it is steel.

Regarding those two circles on the bumper end.

In the last (bottom) image, you can see two circles on the very edge of the bumper. The top one is in the glare of the sun. If the LED shrouds are steel also, as mentioned earlier, then what are these circles? They don't look like screw fasteners nor do they look like rivets. What is their purpose?

Also, what kind of adaptor plates will be required to install a winch? Can you just bolt one on?

Side notes:

A. I've followed everything from Wayalife and ProjectJK religiously since 2012... AND THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON THE FORUM!!!

B. I just heard from my dealership here in upstate South Carolina that my JL has been completed and waiting for shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize for misreading the original question that was posed regarding this. The fog light enclosures are a part of the crush can covers and I believe these are in fact plastic.

Yes. You should be able to remove the winch covers and simply bolt on a winch plate onto the frame rails just like you would have been able to do on a JK.
