Hot rear floorboard

We recently drove from PA to WI on our first long trip with our new JL 2 door. We removed the back seat to have more room to store stuff. When we got to the hotel I noticed that the metal floor hook to secure the back seat was very hot. I felt around the floorboard and it was also noticeably hot. I crawled under the jeep and it seemed to be hotter than my experience with other jeeps we have owned under there. It was all centered around the muffler area. I realize that the muffler gets hot but I never experienced this level. Anyone else notice this?

With that muffler sitting right under the rear cargo area and that long of a drive, that area is gonna act as a big ol' heat sink. Used to happen to me in my JK same way until I got tired of smashing the shit out of my tailpipe & relocated the muffler.

Okay. Thanks. Might try some floorboard insulation to see if it helps. Hot hook actually melted plastic on our suitcase.
