I had a soft top on my JK but switched to a hard top on the JL. I was hoping that the new tops & rack would support an 18’ canoe. No dice. 150lb limit and the Mopar site said kayaks and canoes “are not recommended”.
The AEV roof rack for JK drills through the roof, but then used supports between the roll bars so you could run serious weight. I called them today to see how things were coming along & it didn’t sound like soon. They have their development vehicles, but are working on lifts and wheels which I bet are the real bread & butter.
Just wanted to share for others looking for a serious roof rack. I’m going to hold out.
